Hi,

I don't know of anything that I have changed. But I got In from work yesterday and my wife (grumpily - since we have 2 young kids) said 'It's stopped working'.

I found that GB-PVR had crashed, so I restarted. The OSD works great, all the recordings were missing. I tried Live TV and it crashed again.

I uninstalled, deleted the GBPVR folders and reinstalled, it crashes as soon as I view live TV.

Not sure what on earth has happened, but any suggestions greatfully recieved.

I have tried other bits of software , wintv2000 works fine, I have uninstalled sage, so I can't test that.

I have not changed my hauppage drivers,.

Cheers

could it be a faulty xmltv file? if it has been updated during the day then that might explain the time, and I assume it could currupt the recordings/live tv...

do you still have any of you log files which may have given an idea as to what happened?

I'm not sure what happend to cause this, but let try and get you up and running again. Hopefully during this process we'll work out what went wrong.

Luckily you'll still have all you previously recorded files, so move these to your video library directory so they're still available for viewing.

What exactly happens when you try to use Live TV?

Hi,

when I try and view live TV, the application crashes.
I have moved the recordings to a video directory, and I can use those again - Thanks for that.

Another odd thing I've noticed, I set a couple of recordings up, which appeared in the availble display. But when I try and view them, they are only a second or so long.

I don't have the previous logs, however I do hav current ones, that should cover the live TV crashes. If it will help, I can zip them up and attatch them.

Thanks for all the suggestions so far.

Cheers

Crashes with what message?

Repeat the problem, then email the logs to me at support@devnz.com

Hi,

Sorry, when I say crashes, the application just stops responding, If I look in the task list it is flagged as not responding. Eventually I have to close it from task manager.
(I left it too run for an hour to see it started responding again)

Cheers

Hi,

I am currently feeling like a total Gopper.
I have been monumentally stupid.
I decided to test recording using the WINTV2000 software that comes with the hauppaguge card. And It had no problems, so I ruled out a hardware fault.

I was navigating down to the directory to delete the recording when I noticed the amount of free space I had was about 60Mb.
The problem was being caused as the system couldn't create the buffer file.

It also explains why the recordings weren't quite as long as I was expecting (e.g. 1 Second Vs 30 minutes) .

I deleted some files, and it has all started working fine.
So well in fact, Im about to upgrade to the new version.

My sincere apologies for wasting peoples time.
Thank you for the quick and helpful support.

Cheers

Hey mjp,

I don't think it was a total waste of time (hope you came up with a better excuse for your wife thoughSmile in that we need some mechanism to indicate space issues.

It would be good if GBPVR displayed a warning if disk space falls below a certain minium, eg "Hey Gopper, you only have 5Gb left" and if it gets to a really bad level then maybe it should just refuse to record?

Colin.
