Windows Media Profiles info

OK, wanted to test the transcode to WMV... I got a boatload of profiles to choose from, but aside from the ones that say 28.8Kbps, etc... I have no idea what they are.
Where are they defined in Windows, and how can I check out what those profiles are?

Interesting - I don't have *any* profiles to choose from.
My HTPC-in-progress:
Intel P4 3.0ghz, 1gb dual channel pc3200 ram, 2 400gb SATA hard drives, Sound Blaster Audigy2, and Hauppauge PVR500, in the beautiful SilverstoneTek SST-LC16B case

I have no idea what they are.You shouldnt really edit it by hand, but you can see the profile details in the c:\windows\WMSysPrx.prx or c:\windows\WMSysPr9.prx

Well I've got the WMSysPr9.prx file, but not the WMSysPrx.prx file. Why am I not seeing any profiles when I hit Settings?

I dont know. I'm still relatively new to this Windows Media Profile stuff myself. You could try having a google for it.

And I'd realy like to get some more, I only see some wmv8 profiles none of the wmv9 profiles =/

This information might be a bit old, but go to rage3d.org and search for prx...you get this
http://rage3d.org/board/search.php?searchid=998235 These guys have tweaked and discussed optimizing their prx files. They seemed to have found some really good on-the-fly transcoding to wmv with their AIW cards. Thought about doing it myself, but I think prx files may also be installed if you install windows media encoder. But then, what do I know...still cant get wmv transcoding to work automatically.
