anyone know of a product similiar to gbpvr that focus only on music? in other words i would like to use a pc to deliver music to my entertainment center (stereo/tv) in the living room with an interface simiular to MCE (my music) that works with a remote control. i know it's a lot to ask, but i am anyway!

thanks tom

When i started with GBpvr, that's exactly what i did with it. It was purely music focus. I fed the outputs of the MVP to my whole house audio system and used the TV's and remote strictly as a UI.

I Found that the Jukebox plugin worked for general picking of tracts and random play and the built in Music library for choosing whole albums worked very well for me. I still use those same programs.

I've of course since found other uses as well but my main focus is still as a music player.

At one time the only things that showed on my TV were the jukebox and music library buttons. I keep looking for a plugin that will do both but so far nothing that works quite the way I'd like. The closest has been the Music player plugin. You may of course find something entirely different that suits you better.

In short just because GBpvr is as fine a pvr program as I've seen, you don't need to use it all. Using it with the MVP i don't even know that it's running.

I had not seen that jukebox. The one i was referring to is a GBpvr plugin.

honestly gbpvr doesnt have the best music playback, no visualisations. i would recommend mediaportal over gbpvr for this, you may also want to look into xlobby (i think it can handle this) or any other free media player you can find (http://www.htpcnews.com has a good list).

Aside from a pretty picture rotating about i find the playback of mp3's through the MVP to be as good or better than some very expensive music servers I've tried. extra bonus is it puts almost zero load on the CPU, that's handled by the MVP.

thanks for the suggestions, media portal looks pretty nice. as for the "music jukebox" program i mentioned eariler, i had problems and ended up doing a system restore. so be careful with that one.
