I have installed GB-PVR and am running it via my MediaMVP by clicking on the "GB-PVR MediaMVP Server" shortcut in the Programs menu once I have logged in, however, I would like to be able to have it running as a service.

Does anyone know how to acheive this?

I have previously used FireDaemon which allows you to run programs as a service but I do not know how to do this for GB-PVR. I notice that the "GB-PVR MediaMVP Server" shortcut calls GBPVR.exe but presumabley with some switches to enable just the server part without launching the full program onto the PC screen. I am guessing I should be able to get it working if I just knew which command line GBPVR.exe switch was being used.

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

D'oh ! I think I just found the answer ... I'm guessing the "Number of Servers to Autostart" in the Playback tab of GB-PVR config will do this for me. I will try this evning and see how I get on.

Well not really....
The MVP Server (GBPVR.exe -mvpmode) is started by the Recording service.
So it's slaved to the recording service.
This is a bit of a problem if you want to restart the MVP Server in the middle of a recording...
I'd prefer a separate service myself...
Plus others have noticed that the MVP seems a bit more stable when run from the commandline than from the recording service.

As soon as the user disconnects the MVP server instance is restarted. Take a look at the task list in the Task Manager, noting the process ID, then press the power button on the MVP remote, you'll notice the MVP instance of GBPVR.exe restarts.

If you want to run it as a separate service, there is nothing to stop you using one of the numerous .exe service wrappers that you can download from the net.
