Want to Change ISP in NZ

Anybody out there got any suggestions? (not really worried about pricing plans, more service, speed, experiences)

Check out ihug. They got the 2005 ISP of the year award and currently offer the best value for money plans with optional tolls. Their support is good - much better that Xtra.

You can get 2Mb plans from $29 and push up your bandwidth for a little more. If you're not sure start with the entry plan and you can upgrade online later - similar to Woosh.

If you are in a TelstraClear cabled area, you can get very fast Internet via Clear.net/Paradise "Cable".

Plans are based on:
2Mb/s upstream and downstream or
10Mb/s upstream and downstream
and pricing starts from $30/month but is only available as package deal

As a general guideline Cable is much faster than ADSL (even if the two are rated to the same downstream speed) because Cable is symetrical speed up/down, has low latency, and generally speaking lower oversubscription ratios.

Clear.net/Paradise Cable also rated the best broadband ISP in the recent Consumer review.

Ihug is look the best deal, just a bit nervous, they had real problems with overloading in the early days.
