RenameRecording errors out and causes loss of program in Ready group

I have been having the same problems for the past few months that others have had that when Renamerecording runs, the recorded show disappears from the 'Ready' group. The files are renamed properly by Renamerecording; however, it never makes the change to the database entry and thus the database entry gets deleted as gbpvr cannot find the mpg file when it looks for it under the original name. I have not seen a solution to this. Does anybody have any ideas? The RenameRecording log indicates that it fails renaming the mpg file thinking that a file with that filename already exists. The file is getting properly renamed despite the log entry. It is as if Renamerecording is trying to rename the file twice or something. This happens on all recorded shows unless there is no episode information in the guide in which case Renamerecording does not do anything and the show appears properly in the 'Ready' group.

My postprocessing.bat file is simple and contains only the two lines below:


comskip %1
RenameRecording.exe %1 > RenameRecording.log


Attached is a sample RenameRecording.log

I have not determined what triggered this behavior as RenameRecording used to work fine.

Your problem is the fact that Comskip isn't deleting it's logo.txt file after it completes processing:

Renaming file: F:\gbpvr\Becker\Becker_20051230_11301200.logo.txt

You need to make a modification to your comskip ini and change:

delete_logo_file=0            ; set to 1 if you want comskip to tidy up after finishing

Change the value to 1, and it'll delete the file that is causing the problems when renaming. Erik had added this information to the RenameRecording wiki entry, but I've updated it to make it more prevelantly displayed on the page as well.

Thanks. That will make my wife much happier. I had missed that in the wiki. It is impossible to miss now. Is the fundamental problem that RenameRecording is expecting a fixed number of files and gets confused by the extra file?

No it's expecting the files to only have one "." in their file name, and gets confused there.
