It think a nice feature for a future release of GBPVR would the implementation of reminders. Such as when you are watching live TV, and you had previously set a reminder for lets say LOST. then at 1 minute before lost comes on, a remider comes on in the OSD saying "LOST on in 1 minute", or anything such as this, or maybe even a button that says "tune to this channel immediately".
I know it might as well be set o quick record or something, but this just seems different to me, in case you decide to disregard the reminder.

I have actually done something similiar for reminders; it's a bit clunky and crude, but it *sort* of works (for US and, I think, UK):

1) Go to http://www.myepisodes.com and set up an account. Once you've figured out how it works, add the shows that you are interested in (Lost, Desperate Housewives, etc). If you are in the US, remember to set the timezone (for me, EST=-5).

2) Enable the RSS feeds from the site that you want - I have "Today's Shows" and "Tomorrow's Shows", but there are quite a few options. Check the feeds work okay in your browser.

3) With the 'Newsfeeds' plug-in, add the RSS feeds (copy and paste). Choose one of the feeds to be a 'ticker' (I have "today's shows")

4) Enable the news panel in the main menu; you might have to fudge around with it (depending on the skin) to get it looking okay.

... and you then have a ticker on the main menu that tells you what shows are on today that you like!

As I say, it's a bit clunky and ideally my goal is to write a plug-in that does the same thing but queries the database, giving you the option to 'quick record', but I'm a way off from that (ie, don't know my arse from my elbow).

Anyway, hope this helps.

Groover, I'll have to check that out, but as you said, the ideal reminder is one that uses the recordings/reminder database and has a button on the TV guide Channel sub-menu to "add reminder".
Torque- I hadn't seen this before, but now I know I'm not the only one whose wanted this, Thanks

I've seen this req before, and I still think it would be a nice add-on. It could be as simple as just opening the OSD detail you get by pressing the blue button (haup remote default), and having a simple message like that. I would assume it would be as simple to pop that as the button press is.

The only tweak would be to customize the messaage (and maybe the color) to have the reminder show description, and then req pressing the blue button to close it.

While it would kind of cool to have it pop like the restart/resume, and a function to just to the show, I think that would be annoying pretty quick, having it over the program. I think it's NBD to just change the channel yourself.

It would be cool. I used to have this feature on WebTV, when you selected a show in the program guide you just had one more option that would allow you to have it tune to that channel when the show was coming on. I would think this would be more of a gbpvr core thing than a plugin, just one more button in the epg.
