Pvr-150 Mce

I purchased a PVR 150 MCE. I installed it on a Windows XP machine with service pack 2. While windows is loaded and I am logged on I can watch TV record and everything else. As soon as I reboot the computer, it forces windows to reboot every time, right before the logon screen comes up. I go in to safe mode and disable the PVR 150 MCE and windows loads normal and I can enable it and use it again. Once I reboot it does it all over again.



Here are the specs on my computer:



Pentium 4 1.6 GHz

768 MB of RAM

NVIDIA Geforce2 Ultra 64 MB (Color Quality 32 bit)



I originally assumed there was a conflict between the video card and PVR 150 MCE as they were sharing IRQ 11. I moved the card to another PCI slot and it still does the same thing even with different IRQs.



I believe it’s a driver issue because before it loads the logon screen it restarts. But when disabled, it works fine. I would greatly appreciate it if I could get some help on this. If you need anymore info please let me know. Thanks in Advance.

I am not sure which driver you are using so I can't really help too much. Try the latest driver on SHSPVR.com. Make sure you use the MCE driver. That is all I can think of.

I am using the drivers from the PVR 150 MCE cd. I tryed the drivers from your suggested site and it still does the same thing. If windows load and I am in my account all I have to do is enable the card from device manager. It works when enabled. When i reboot, it starts giving the problems. So i have to go to safe mode and disabled it.

What motherboard chipset are you using? Sounds like you might have a VIA chipset. I suggest using the hwclear utility and using these drivers:

If you do have a VIA chipset, make sure you apply the drivers from the VIA site. They make all the difference in the world.

I do have a VIA Motherboard and Chipset, I installed the 4in1 VIA drivers for the mobo, and I am going to try getting an older version of the pvr 150 mce drivers.

I will give it a try thanks.

I installed the drivers from the suggested ftp site, starting with the oldest one first. I still have the same problem. When windows crash I get the error that mentions HCWpp2.sys which is the drivers for the pvr 150 mce. I reinstalled Directx 9c, VIA chipset drivers 4in1 and updated my video card drivers to the most recent release. I just don't know what to do anymore.

Make sure you use the MCE driver

I found exactly the opposite. Having just had a windows stability problem after installing a 2nd card, a PVR-150MCE, I had similar problems. It turned out not to be the card or GB-PVR thats another story.

The upshot is after a bit of testing I did find that with with a PVR-150MCE on Win XP sp2 the best drivers for my setup were the not the MCE but the latest standard 150 drivers. Not sure what the difference is. Try all available versions and see what works for you. YMMV

I also have a VIA chipset and it is/was/will always be pants!! the 4 in 1 set stink and so do the VIA stable release. When I get a few bob its history.

I have tried almost every driver and they all give me the same results. I am avoiding the purchase of a new board. But it seems like I have not choice. Pretty soon my hair will start falling out because of this.

My last thoughts would point to hardware. I would make sure the system is stable without the 150, then update the motherboard BIOS.
Be sure your power supply is big enough and not a real cheapo. Might be a power issue.
