I just bought one of these from Maplin and it works quite well. The supplied software is ArcSoft TotalMedia, which seemed clunky to me so I tried GB-PVR which is streets ahead...

Now the problem.... GB-PVR recognises the stick as a "FreecomDVB" which works fine for live TV. Recording aparrently works and produces big DVR-ms files, but they won't play back. GP-PVR produces the following message :

"Error: Failure playing back file"

Trying to open the recording in Windows Media Player results in a crash.

Have I got a setting wrong somewhere?

Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I think I have answered my own question (sort of).

Out of interest, I downloaded the demo of ShowShifter and installed it. No, lo and behold, I can play-back recordings I have already made... Very Odd.

Perhaps SS includes some component that GB-PVR needs. The question is, will it stop working when SS times-out???

Sub will probably give you a more techy answer but now that you have the SS mux installed, you might want to change it within the config to use that for recording too so that you can create mpg files instead of ms ones.

It won't time out.

Sounds like you didnt have an MPEG-2 decoder installed. After installing SS you now have one of these.

I have similar opinion of the software supplied, but have not been able to get gbpvr working, how did you do it?
