I'm just getting my PVR project off the ground. I have to say that without all the excellent resources online I wouldn't have a chance of doing this. I feel pretty confident about most things, but I get hung up on the little things...

I will be using two different drives. The OS is already installed on a small drive. I will be adding a large drive for all my video storage. Which drive should I install GBPVR on? Does it matter? I will be using a MediaMVP.

This is just the first of what is sure to be many posts.

Thanks, Merlynn

Install GBPVR on your OS drive and record to the secondary drive. You'll get better performance that way.

I also split my virtual memory to improve performance. I have virtual memory on the OS drive set to the same size as my physical memory (in my case, 1GB physical memory=1024MB on my OS drive) and a small partition on the end of my second drive with virtual memory equal to 2.5 times physical memory (2560MB). And don't forget to format all of the second drive (all partitions, if you choose to split it) to 64k NTFS. It fragments less (for better performance) and NTFS supports files bigger than 4GB (for those long programs Smile).
