Hi, I'v been using GBPVR since last September and I must say I love it. My favorite part is I never have to go rent movies as I've noticed that there are tons of them on each week.

However I want a simple way to find them so I started by writing a quick perl script that searches the zapdb.mdb to sort out all the movies by Genre and email me a list of all the upcoming movies. Then once a week I'd sit down and scheduale them up to record via xsearch.

This was ok but I'm lazy and thats a lot of work. The other problem is that my TV is a projector and I don't like to start and stop it all the time, so this solution has become impracticle. Since I am mostly in my office down the hall I thout it would be cool to control GBPVR remotely so I could schedule stugg, but the Client Server setup worked however I didn't find it to be very efficient. Besides I just want one interface to handle my movie crap, so I don't need the full bore GBPVR interface.

Heres the goal I want to code some client software for this system of yours, that will allow me to schedule movies from it. Including a movie search, a movie watch list, grabbing movie info from IMDB and stuff. However I'm not sure if I need to use the GBPVR.dll to schedule a recording or if I can just access the database myself an add a recording.
As well I've yet to come to an understanding as to how you resolve which tuner to use.

Sorry for being longwinded. Any insightwould be helpful, I plan to use VS.Net.

Thanks

Seems like you're re-inventing the wheel. The Web Admin does that which is loaded when you install.

Now that it has the proper scheduling of reoccuring programmes, it should do what you want.

I think the only thing it doesn't do that you want is the reminders on movies.

As for the which tuner to use, a scheduled recording is handled by GBPVR natively so you don't have to care which tuner.

Maybe you'd be better off to add a couple of pages to the EWA (Web admin) to handle you movie watch list.

Thanks psycik!

I took your advice and reinstalled a new version of GBPVR and EWA and wow what great functionality it has. I noticed the the movie watch list seems to already be being developed as it is on the site wishlist.

I guess theres not much left for me to do. :<
