LCD Touchscreens

Has anyone had any experience dealing with those 7 & 8 inch touch screen LCD monitors that I see on ebay?

What is the quality like?

I want to set these up as remote controls for GBPVR / windows.

I would like to set up a distribution board for my monitor output and have 2 x touch screens set up to act as remotes. I thought a nice touch screen would work really well - as I run in 640x480 res for TV out anyway.

I would have to run 1 x monitor extension cable, 1 x USB extension (would probably go for 2 x 5M active extensions daisy chained) for the device to work correctly.

I just weant to know if these monitors are crap or not / pic quality etc.

Hi,

I have a "Lilliput" touchscreen 7" LCD and the quality from that is OK. It does 640x480 natively, but also accepts 800x600 and 1024x768 signals (with the resulting loss in quality displaying that on a native VGA panel).

Picture quality is fine, and watching a DVD or live TV on it is perfectly acceptable. Windows XP doesn't particularly like running at 640x480 (but can be coaxed) and at the higher resolution screenmodes, some of the smaller items of text can be difficult to read.

If you buy one of these, try to ask the seller to check the LCD - even if it's new. I bought one new and it had about eight stuck pixels (bright green!) at various places on the screen. Luckily, the seller was OK about replacing it with one that had been checked.

I see you are from NZ - did you get your LCD from a seller in the country - or from overseas?
