Graph Edit-Idiots Guide

I am still trying to see if my TV card will work with gbpvr.

I have downloaded Graph Edit and tried to work out how to use it with the help of the links. Although I can load a clip, add filters and produce a graph I have no idea how to get the information required for the ini file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Referring to your posts in another thread... Yes, the best thing to do would be to start by copying the section in direct.ini of one of the other AverMedia cards. Obviously change the name in the square brackets to be M168-U.

I've included a screenshot of the sort of graph you need to build. It is one using a Hauppauge PVR350 so look in the direct.ini for the info for that card to see how the filter pin names in the graph relate to the PIN_ entries in the PVR350 section.

If you also look at FILTER_ entries, these are the names of the filters as seen when you look in the 'Insert filters' box in graphedit.

NOTE - in the graph screenshot, you will see the TV Tuner, TV Audio and Capture filters have generic names - sub obviously does this when he puts the filters in.

The sections you need to look in when inserting filters are...

WDM Streaming TV Tuner Devices
WDM Streaming TV Audio Devices
WDM Streaming Crossbar Devices
WDM Streaming Capture Devices

Assuming you have the card's drivers installed you should find filters in these sections that may or may not be the same or similar to the names found in the FILTER_ entries of the direct.ini for the other AverMedia cards.

Once you have those filters in the graph, look at the names of the pins. Again, refer to the screenshot and the PVR350 section and see how the names relate in my graph.

If any of the filters you find in graphedit have different names to the filters in the section you have copied from the other AverMedia card type, then simply edit the relevant FILTER_ entry. Do the same if any of the pin names are different in PIN_ entries.

I think I maybe getting somewhere and have managed to get the attached graph. I will try and get it to link and amend the ini file as much as I can.

Yes - that looks promising.

As I suspect you've worked out, just use those filter names for the FILTER_ entries and the pin names for PIN_ entries.

It will also depend on what comes out of your 'capture' pin. GB-PVR requires MPEG2 video to come out of the card, which is why older software encoder cards are not compatible. These produce raw video frames instead.


What type of card are you trying to get working?

It's an Aver Media Card:M168-U.

The software I got with it highlighted MPEG-1/11.

Hope to finish the ini file tomorrow.I will let you know how I get on.

Unfortunately I think this is an old software encoder card, so unlikely to work with the built in device support in GB-PVR. You might be able to get it to work with the plugin from here: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=2753

It appears you are correct that I have an old software encoder card.

*Time Shift and Record Video in MPEG2 are only available with the WDM driver under Windows 98SE/2000/ME/XP.

I think I will buy an up to date card!
