I used UDP to communicate, so it's a fire and forget type thing, no 2-way comms at all - pretty much like an IR remote really.

I thought of UDP as well, but wanted the two-way thing. So I get the benefit of displaying track and other onfo.

Since i was also trying to control MCE2005 (which, for some reason, doesn't work with SendKeys), i ended up sending messages to the window using User32.dll

Same here. I had some issues and the current interface deoesn't support all commands. I wanted to use SendKeys but it didn't work either (maybe the thread issue), so Sending messeges is what I do. Took me a while though, as CTRL- messeges didn't go through, then I use a combination of keybd_event and PostMessage.

Maybe we could consolidate our efforts, if you're interested.

Yeah, I don't mind, although it does seem we are going different ways (PocketPC, UDP, MCE, etc...)

I still have quite a bit of work to do on the pocket PC side as i wanted to get IR working too, so i can control my TV & Amp.
