On another thread we were talking about sending a filespec to a queue for later transcoding, using the transcode button in the Video Plugin...

http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?p=136895

I'm using ZProcess to fake out GB-PVR to think it's ffmpeg. I've been able to select a vid file, select my transcode profile that instructs ZProcess to add the filespec to the queue and then unload.

Problem is, GB-PVR is still waiting for a file to be generated. I think pBS is/was having the same problem.

GB-PVR sticks with this screen, and I can't 'stop' the transcode, or choose another file to add to the queue because it thinks it should wait... (i think)

edit: GB-PVR isn't locked up in any other way...

Anyone know, or have an idea how to either further fake out GB-PVR or 'ask nicely' to stop waiting for something that ain't gonna happen...

One thought I had was to transcode a really small Target file: 5-10 sec of an AVI, for example, and then just kill it on the way out...

Did a bit of homework. Seems the following symptoms of a problem happen with ZProcess or the the default FFMpeg that comes with GB-PVR and it's default setting in the config.xml.

For thiese examples we'll use the just the FFMpeg technique...

I'm able to select an MPG, I choose Transcode, choose XVID, Click OK and it's off.

The Progress display does not increase at all left on it's own. If I click 'behind' it, as in outside the box, the box updates to the current Output file size.

I can cancel the transcode using the Stop Button
I can exit the progress window. When I try to trancode again, the original progress window shows up, updated. I can cancel the transcode now too...

But if the transcode fails, or if the transcode is Task Manager termintaed. Or if it finishes on it's own, (EOF) the progres window will not indicate completion, or close.

At this point, the stop will not work.. The exit closes the popup, but an attempt to transcode again, brings up the original, non responding progress window...

GB-PVR calls FFmpeg in a hidden window. Manually terminating it can only be done with Task Manager. ZProcess, while mimicking ffmpeg, forces itself to show, though minimzed, and it then spawns the real ffmpeg transcoder in another visible window. Although it creates a couple of extra tasks in the task bar, it operates smoothly and about as responsive as the default, direct to ffmpeg approach...

Again within GB-PVR's Transcode Progress popup, progress is not updated unless I click the background... And it does not seem to recogize the eof or a failed transcode...

After looking at this issue, I'm thinking that GB-PVR is not seeing the EOF or End of Transcode, whether complete or failed.

This was a bug in the current v0.97.13 release, or more specifically the new Video Library screen that was included in that release, and has been fixed for the next build.

Its been discussed in a couple of threads sometime just after the v0.97.13 release.

Thanks so much looking forward to the next build...
