Length of Time the OSD Displays

Hi everyone. I'm a noob here, so be gentle please.

I've had my HTPC up and running for a few months now, and its really cool. Thanks Sub for developing such a cool program and letting us use it for free! These forums are great also, its where I've had all of my questions answered.

I have a feature request though. The OSD doesn't stay on long enough for me to read the entire description. Would it be possible to get an option to set the OSD display time? Prefereably in ms rather than seconds.

I'd like it where you could toggle it on and off, instead of the timing thing.

Using my hauppauge remote, I can toggle it on/off using the green button
alt+G on a keyboard, i think...

I think I have mentioned it before but I really like the system where one press on the green button shows the osd for a couple of seconds, another press while the osd is showing makes it stick, and a third press while it's showing makes it go away again. That would also make it possible to pause something and then remove the osd from the picture.

are you using a different plugin for playing or something? on my box, the BLUE (not green) button (haup 45 button remote) toggles the OSD, and it will not make the OSD go away while paused. if i'm watching a recording or timeshift tv, i can make the osd come up if i press BLUE once, and it goes away in 5 seconds or when i press BLUE again -whichever comes first. but like i said, when it's paused, i cannot turn off the OSD at all. wish i could, cuz i'm usually trying to read something on screen when paused, and even though the OSD is partially transparent, it's not clear enough.

I also use the Hauppauge 45 button remote, and the blue buttons works the same as you describe, but the green button makes the osd stay until you hit the green button again (ie. does not disappear after 5 seconds)

I am not sure if you can make the osd disappear when paused. sorry.

very strange... green button doesn't do anything as far as i can tell on my setup.

Sorry, I ment "blue", not green and it was a suggestion, not how it works in gbpvr now. It's the way it works on B&O tvs though (and probably a lot of others too).

no problem. i wish i could disable the osd while paused. i also would like to control how long the osd stays displayed when it comes up (ie: changing channels, starting playback, etc). i think BLUE should turn on OSD till you press it again, or if the OSD is already displayed (when you pause and when starting playback) then BLUE will turn it off.

that's what i'd like to see. osd timer is not nearly as important as being able to turn off the osd while paused. granted, this isn't all THAT important, but it would sure be nice.
