Am I expecting too much or is it uncharacteristic for the menu navigation to be dog slow via MVP?
It takes at least a second (maybe closer to two or three) between pressing a button on the remote and actually seing the result.
also, live playback is extremely stuttery and filled with artifacts. Recording and recorded playback is fine.
For testing I am using a PIII 800mhz machine with onboard video and 512MB Ram as the GBPVR server.
Using the default Dongle.... I am actually unable to find anywhere to download other dongles to test with.
Capture card is a Hauppauge PVR150 and I am using composite inputs from a dish STB.

For a pentium3 800 it sounds pretty normal. sub recommends a p3 1 ghz as the minimum for a server only, so for a mvp you should count some extra.
AMD Athlon 64 3000, HDD: 80, 120, 200 GB, Hauppauge 350 + 150, MVP, Asus 6000L Laptop client, Asus X50sl client,
Fritz!box 7140 modem/router, GBPVR 1.3.7.

Sorry but thats way too slow for an MVP server. The faster your server the faster your MVP will respond. I'd recommend need a 2GHz or faster machine for a decent performance in the MVP menus.

Different dongles arent really going perform much different.

I get pretty good MVP performance, menu wise, using an AMD 1.33Ghz Athlon. I can't watch AVI files transcoded on-the-fly, I have to convert them to MPEG first.

Make sure you apply the registry file located at http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/...zation.reg

There's also some info in this thread http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...+tcp+tweak

The latest Hauppauge software for the mvp can be found at ftp://ftp.hauppauge.com/Support/MediaMVP/Alpha

Download the zip file, open it, and extract the DONGLE.BIN file to a temporary folder. Rename it to something like 3.3.24265bDONGLE.BIN, then put it in your \Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\Dongle folder.

Thank You for the information. I just moved GBPVR and the tuner card to an old Dual AMD MP2000 server I had sitting in the closet... the MediaMVP runs sooooo much better. I had no idea how much it relied on the server to process mpeg decoding and menu navigation.

I'm like 4zm4r3d02. PIII 1.2MHz Tualatin. 512MB Ram. MVP works fine on that, not blazingly fast, but more than acceptable.
