Here is a suggestion for recording.

1. When recording a season only record one instance of the show. Currently if the same episode is played 10 times a day it records all of them.
2. When viewing recorded shows in the menu maybe put the episode number or description below it. It’s hard to tell what I watched and what needs to be watched.

Both of these really relate to the same thing. XMLTV doesn't give me the episode number. I have no way to tell one programme from another. With XMLTV, even the show descriptions are often the unchanged from episode to episode.

I guess the answer would be to enable this as a favorite option, like Would you like this program to be recorded only once a day?, then provide a popup which shows all times for that show that day.  You could pick; lets say 8:00.  If you wanted to record the show only 2 out of 5 times, then you would create a second favorite and specify the second time.  Hope this helps with suggestions.

Perhaps would it be posible to use listings from zap2it instead? Or maybe an external tv guide plugin from zap2it?

You can get free litings from zap2it. I know two programs that pull listings from them. One program is called freeguide located on http://www.sourceforge.net and the other program that uses zap2it listings is called ultimate guide on tap located at http://www.ultimateguide.tv.
