IR Blaster help needed

ok I cant find answers anywhere!! I am so confused...

I have a pvr 150 and I followed these instructions:

and in the IR Blaster Configuration wizard, I got to the code set part and none of them turned the Motorola DCT2224 box off. I tried both codes for that specific model and then I tried all the codes in the "test all" Nothing worked!!!

I put the IR transmitter right to the right of the "Power" text. That is where there IF sensor seems to be.

Can anyone help me here?? Can anyone list to me exactly what I need to do?

if its in the list it should work. However, the IR blasters are fragile. I'm on my 3rd one! Also the jack socket is a weak point and you have to make sure you have a good connection.

Do you se the blaster flashing when trying the codes?

Yes the blaster is flashing when the codes are going. I am also positive I have it directly over the sensor.

I have read some people on the web complaining about the DCT2224 with regards to IR Blaster, but not with gbpvr.

I have the setup right, just no codes seem to work

I've got a similar problem using an Hauppauge HVR 1300 (non MCE version) with a General Instruments / Motorola CT1900 (Starhub analog STB). LED flashes, but none of the codes work, just like curt1s' problem.

I can't tell if it's a coding problem, or the IR is dead. The IR receiver works fine, and the 45 key remote controls GBPVR nicely! Does anyone know the codeset to use for the CT1900?

Is the IR is the same LED as the visible red LED, or are there in fact two LEDs in Hauppauge's blaster, and the IR LED could be dead, but the visible LED ok.

ok so hauppauge wasnt so smart making their IR blasters... with a single visible red LED which also emmits some IR. the IR signal they send is crap, try taking the little plastic protective thing off of the LED, and pointing it straight at the receiver, if you look hard you should be able to see where it is. that should work. OR you could get a serial cable, and use that to change channels, it is SO much better, more reliable and cleaner looking. there is an app on here that will do all of the DCT2xxx boxes for serial channel changing. assuming that your box has the serial port enabled.

Ted the Penguin got it right - Pull off that plastic cover and point the LED straight at the detector. General Instruments CT1900 code set is 029.

I'm off the the shop to buy a proper IR emitter and replace the inferior Hauppauge LED that probably has more visible spectrum light than InfraRed.

Just a quick note. You can use a ditial camera (the point and shoot type) to test IR remotes. Just switch on the camera point the remote at the lens and press buttons, while looking and the LCD screen. You should see the LED light come on. You could use this method to test the IR blaster.
