I attempt to do a manual recording 1 minute in the future for a duration of 1 minute. For example, my PC says 11:55AM and I attempt to do a recording starting at 11:56AM. Upon setting all the settings I click on Record and the application hangs for 30 seconds or so. After it finally responds the Manual Recording window closes where I was configuring my recording however the recording never shows up. I tried this twice with the same results. I then put the recording 2 minutes into the future and that worked fine. Sounds like its a bug. Any thoughts? I'm using 98.13b.

if you say 1 min in advance, by the time you press record it is less than 1 min to go. I'm assuming GBPVR only does it's sums in intervals of 1 min, so by the time you press record it's too late.
Anyway why do this at all? Much easier to set the desired program to record from the EPG, or just hit record on the remote...Smile

I haven't tried this recently, but in the past if you scheduled a manual recording and it was past due, it'd start right away if the end time hadn't come yet. I used to record PPV stuff this way in the past, before being able to start a recording during Live TV and exit w/ the recording continuing.

Sounds like a bug.

I don't have a remote hooked up yet and I can't use the guide because I only have s-video input from my digitcal cable receiver. While making test recordings I've been just short recordings and just put them 1 min into the future.

I think the ATI software I had before had a similar problem as far as recording time granularity was concerned however with that software it just wouldn't record despite saving my entry. GB-PVR won't even save the entry. So even if 1 min is too small of an interval (which shouldn't come into play until it checks to see if a recording should start but that's just a guess) it should still allow me to save the schedule entry and either start immediately or wait if the desired time hasn't been reached yet.

I'm not sure how that would make it impossible to use the guide?

Well the guide info is still shown but it is irrelevant as far as the channels are concerned because the channel that is recorded is whatever channel the receiver is set to so whether I tell gb-pvr to record channel 25 or 250 the same show will be recorded. I only use the guide for knowing what dates/times a show will be aired and I setup manual recordings for those times and always have it record channel 2. I just have to remember to make sure the digital cable receiver is on the right channel in order to record the right show.

You can still record from the epg. Just make sure all your channels are set to the same channel no/frequency as your reciever. Yes you have to make sure your reciever is on the correct station, but setting up the recording is much simpler!
