Just got this running and have to say it's great. Compared to Showshifter and beyond tv it's got so much more promise.

Missing three things I'd really like:

1. Full screen toggle. While GBPVR is running. Having to exit and change it in the config is a little long winded

2. Skip, Previous buttons for Music player for when I'm using a mouse or keyboard

3. Better naming of recorded files (Eastenders_4268 vs. Eastenders_220104_2000_2100). That way I know what I've recorded and when.

And a minor... Not resetting TV guide to "now" after setting a program to record

ctrl-[align=right] does a skip next, ctrl-[align=left] does skip previous when listening to music. These buttons also work on the remote, but I guess you already know that.

The TV Guide returns to 'now' if you go back to the menus and return to the screen. I think it would annoy me if it kep returning to now. I might be going through and setting up recordings for the week.

I'll do something about the recording names for the next release.

The file names will now be Eastenders_20040122_2000_2100.mpg. I put the date in a more internationally acceptable format.

It also helps with sorting having the format yyymmdd.

Not having done a manual record as yet, what is the format of the name of the recorded file?

Colin.

Its current manual_CC_yyMMddHHmmss.mpg. CC is the channel number. I'm open to suggestions.

Having the same extension of _yyyymmdd_timestart_timeend.mpg would be good. I'm guessing some people would like to be able to name the file themselves or provide the name of the program which can then be used to create the full file name.

I have no preference. Its not often i would be doing manual records unlss i am setting something up for beyond the 2 wk tv guide boundary.

Cheers,

Sounds reasonable. I might provide a box to enter a name prefix instead of the default word 'Manual', but for now you'll only be able to type in it. ie no virtual keyboard (initially) for remote control users.

The silver Hauppauge remote has letters printed over the number keys, I haven't seen them used anywhere but maybe you could use them to type text the same way as it's done on a cellphone?

Then you won't need a virtual keyboard on screen, and people using a normal keyboard can continue to do that.

ok, I badly worded my minor, but it's annoying me a little more now.

If I want to set a weekends worth of recordings, say 4 programs, Each time I set one to record the guide is reset to the current day&time. I now have to search back to where I was in order to continue my searching/recording.

If you decide not to record and just press cnacel it drops you back at that program, which is much nicer.

Any news on the full screen thingy?
