I just built a new PVR with a motherboard that has PCI-X slots. these slots are capable of downgrading to PCI, provided the card I put in it is a certain voltage. well 4 of my PVR150's are not the right voltage. Luckily I have one that is.
I need to get more tuners fast.
With my PVR 150's I used to have 3 capturing through composite connections and one through the analog tuner. is it possible to eliminate one by using both the composite and the coax connection simultaneously?

Any other insight is welcome.

No, you can use either composite or coax but not both at the same time. The is only one encoder etc.

this issue has been beaten to death, in many places, including AVSForum and some forums here...

the answer is very sadly... no, there are cards that do it, but they are in the range of thousands of dollars, for TV studios. the amount of raw processing power required to encode an HD stream on the fly is very high.

however we may be in luck, fujitsu seems to have released a chip that can encode HD to x.264 on the fly, the chip itself costs a couple hundred, and then plus other components and dev costs, expect the card that can do this to run from $500 to $1000. and it wont be out for a while still. but hey, it gives you something to look forward to/save for :p
