Is it possible to use two PCI capture cards with GB-PVR?
(I already have a Sigma Designs XCard)

I'm just wondering if using two Leatek PVR-2000 is doable?
(or even two Hauppauge PVR250 or some other "Blackbird" class card).

I want to capture from an analog source (Cable TV and VHS) and a digital source (Free-to-air, from digital set top tuner). Would this be a bad idea?

1) Yes

2) Dunno about PVR2000 - is it a supported MPEG card? Of so, then probably yes. I'm running two PVR-250's, one hooked to a satellite reciever and another to a regular antenna and that works great.

3) No - it's a good idea  [Image: smile.gif]

Thanks for answering! [Image: smile.gif]

I went over to tv-cards.com to see about user experience of the Leadtek PVR-2000...The overall message I'm getting is, this product is NOT quite ready for prime time yet. (The NTSC version is OK, but the PAL version is NOT!Wink

The PAL version (Hong Kong, Australia, some parts of Europe) has an issue with sound and the FM tuner. This has been confirmed by two users. One from Hong Kong and one from Norway. (Both having the same issue! It could be hardware or driver.)

See this thread.
http://www.tv-cards.com/messageboard/vie...php?t=6758

However, it doesn't seem to be a problem with the USA (NTSC) version. So I guess I have to wait until the end of the year to blow by until all the "issues" are sorted with the PAL version. [Image: sad.gif]

By then, I could probably afford two of those PVR-250s! [Image: smile.gif]

I get the feeling the PVR-2000 is gonna be like their previous TV2000 range...The first few versions had issues which are eventually sorted out when a complete new line of capture card comes!

Hmmm...Well, I found out why Hauppauge cards costs heaps here in Aust...They have to repackage them for Aust and such. It jacks up the cost...For one PVR250, I can buy two PVR2000!

If you thought UK and their taxes were a rip off, Hauppauge product prices in Aust is like a joke...If Hauppauge lowered the cost to be same as overseas, then I'll buy it in a heartbeat!

I'm not sure if I want to spend money on the PVR2000 yet, because of these initial issues with software.

Like I said, in Leadtek's previous line, the TV2000, the "Expert" version was worth considering since it was the last version (early versions of the TV2000 were a bit troublesome and Leadtek went through a few hardware revisions to get things good)...But the "Expert" version didn't have Hardware encoding.

How's the picture quality for capturing on that card?
(I'm assuming you have good quality as your input to begin with.)

Well, I got my cousin to buy the card and found out someone else bought the card in the next state. (up north). So, same card in two different states.

Looks like the version available in Australia doesn't have any issues!

So I'm gonna save up for one! [Image: biggrin.gif]

The other card you could consider is the Pixelview PlayTV@p7000.

I dunno how well it works but I believe it is being used by some GBPVR systems.
