I've been asking around to a lot of people about this. Is anyone here using this? If so I'd be interested to hear your experience. What kind of programming can be had? Has it been reliable? Have you been able to integrate it with you PVR well? I use directv right now but I may be interested in trying that out just because I'm always looking for a new project.

Good question. I'm in the US. Vermont to be more exact. I'm looking at a list of english channels on http://www.FTAlist.com right now and it doesn't look like there's a ton but it looks like there may be some decent programing as I look at some of the channels individually. Would I have to get an entirely different dish or could I somehow plug into my directv dish and use it to receive the signal. That way I could try it out without getting rid of directv or putting another dish on my house.

IIRC, DirecTv/Dish use a circular LNB and most FTA need a linear LNB. In other words, you'll only be able to use your current LNB with DTV/Dish. Also, you'd want a larger dish for the FTA to help improve your signal strength. If you want to hit multiple satellites you'll want to invest in a dish motor as well.
