Hi,

I'm new here so please bear with me. I've also searched and find nothing on this card.

I am having a problem seeing digital/hi def channels. I have cable from with splitter going to ATSC and NTSC ports on the card.

I used the direct record option and zap2it for schedule which did give me analog channels. The problem with this was that the timer record would fail everytime I chose a program for overnight recording.

I notice that there is suggestion on hvr-1600 to use bda plugin for capture source. Should I try this? Also for epg what source should I use with zap2it going away?

I was so close but now I have no guide at all after trying the bda capture.

Thanks for the help.

You probably need to read most of the 1600 threads. The 1800 is basically a PCI-e version of the 1600.

The card has two independent tuners so you need to set up two capture sources (analog and digital). The BDA is for the digital tuner. Set up the way you have it, you will only have QAM channels possible on the digital tuner. This means you need the beta drivers for the card and your cableco must have unencrypted QAM channels available.

The digital tuner is not very sensitive and the splitter might drop the signal level too low for good reception. My advice would be to get the analog side working well, then worry about the digital half.

Thank you! I put the patch Native*.dll in and this corrected the wake up recording issue and I have the analog working now. Should an amp help with the signal strength? I have 50ft of cable from wall outlet in our family room running to splitter right behind PC to load the ATSC and NTSC ports.

Cable co says I should get network channels unencrypted. Also have the latest driver I think. I got them from Hauppauge site yesterday.

Last thing will be the xml tv guide utility.

Thanks for the info. This is a killer product to be so simple compared to other open source pvr.

Thanks

An amp might help. The standard test method is to temporarily run just a single lead to the ATSC tuner and scan/check. An amplified splitter or distribution amp might be the preferred amp choice. (one input 4 outputs typical) This type compensates for the splitter loss without the overload conditions that pure amps can cause.

Unencrypted HD locals is pretty common for QAM. A check of your local forum at the AVSforum could give you an idea of actual channel availability.
