Anyone Viewing Philadelphia Clear QAM through Comcast? Any luck, what channels, frequencies, etc. do I need?

Thanks, I've had zero luck getting GBPVR to work through ATSC, something holds onto the device, but the dumb AverMedia software is fine.

Thanks,
MK

I am, in delco not philly proper, so the lineup might be a little different. I was able to scan for qam in gbpvr, and then mapped all of my network channels (kyw, txf, pvi, phl, etc...) comcast also has a load of unencrypted digital channels (granted I subscribe to a pretty healthy package), I haven't mapped them yet but I have discovery HD that I saw unencrypted and many of the digital cable stations are there.

I've only used it so far for the network hd stations. but the short answer is it works well, although I did have the occasional sync issue, using the ati mux fixed that right up. I'm using a Hauppauge 1600.

Do you just hook the coaxial straight from the wall?

I did, actually split the cable in two, and ran one into the analogue, and one into the atsc/digital input on my 1600, but yeah, basically.

Since you are using Aver, some have found that under XP MCE, you have to enter and run Aver first, then shut it down and run GBPVR config to scan your QAM channels. In addition, do this after each reboot. The driver does not seem to initialize properly for QAM until an Aver application is run.

Try that, then scan and see what it finds.

Hey guys - I am running comcast in Delco.
I have an HDHomerun.
I bought an amp that split the signal 4 ways. It was $50 from Radio Shack. It was a GREAT investment. It made my PVR150 recordings look much better. The difference was night and day. Now my PVR150 stuff looks better than live TV on the 42 in plasma.
Anyway, I took one of the feeds out of the amp and split it, and fed both feeds into the QAM tuners on the HDHR. It scanned, for about 20 minutes, and found just about all the same channels that my Vizio QAM tuner found, including the unscrambled on-demand. I had a tough time mapping, and lost patience,so I bailed. Plus, I am having HW issues, so I wanted to address one thing at a time.
Bottom line - the amp/signal booster made a big difference. I would reccomend one.

So does Spike have a digital channel? I would love to watch UFC in HD, or at least on a cleaner digital signal... Anyone know the mapped channel #? If not, there is an HDHR for sale in the near future. I have no need to record in for now. I shoiuld hav bought an HVR1600. My happauge 150 records well enough for my needs, now that the signal amp is up and running.

Oh - forgot to add one more thing. We do not even sign up for Digital cable. We don't have any cable boxes, and just pay for regular basic. Even the HD signals are pumped in for the local channels. I can get those throguh the QAM tuner on the TV itself.

To see what channels should be available in your area:
http://www.silicondust.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4184
You can also check your city's thread in the HDTV Reception forum over at avsforum.

HD locals are usually available with the most basic package your cable company carries.

bump - New Comcast signals are MUCH better. So much so that my lowly HVR1600 now finds TONS of channels.
Use the http://www.silicondust.com/wiki/hdhomerun/channels to help with the channel mapping. SPIKE, ESPN, ESPN2, and style channel (did I say that last one out loud?). Some at 480p, but at least now I know my rig has some more legs on it. I think Comcast will support clear QAM for some time to come based on their new filters they are pushing out. It is totally worth re-trying your HVR1600 setups if you are in the Philadelphia (Philly) area. Happy hunting!

I'm in Philadelphia and I'm using Clear QAM with Comcast. I have Pinnacle HD card 800i. I can scan and tune all Clear QAM channels available. Only problem I have is that all channels (ABCHD, NBCHD, and their sub channels) on one frequency stutters every few seconds...
