I use a Terratec Synergy 2400i dual DVB - hardware is great - software is OKish - would like to use GB PVR which is compatible - the remote was dreadful. I'm really confused over which remote I could use. I'd be very grateful for any help (I don't use MCE by the way)

This is indeed a potentially tricky issue. I personally use the remote which came with my Hauppauge card. There are however Microsoft remotes sold separately you can find some more info on the wiki: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Hardware/Hardware

By using programs such as girder, ircfg, and a bunch of others you can use any remote with any ir receiver and have it simulate key presses; that is what I do with my Logitech Harmony remote. (see the wiki entry either above or in my sig)

Welcome aboard Smile

I got the same card in my setup. It works brilliantly in GBPVR, although if you want it to record directly to MPG, finding a proper MUX can be a challenge. I finally succeeded in finding one without issues in Cyberlink MpgMux.ax ver 5.0.0813 but YMMV. If you do not want to record directly to MPG (i.e. you do not (yet) have a MediaMVP) you are probably just fine with native drivers.

It would probably be easier to help you out if you could specify a little more in detail what the issue is with the Terratec remote, and what you would like to accomplish with a new remote. A short description of the total setting where the remote is to be used would also help us help You. Wink

Finally, if you do a search in this forum on remotes, you will find a few valuable threads for inspiration, as the topic has been discussed in the past from different perspectives.

Here's a thread where people gave me some advice with universal remotes. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...emote+hell

Hope it helps.
