I am trying to use ML2 for the first time. After adding a couple directories that contain my MP3 files and running the scan, I ran the plugin. For every artist shown, I see every track listed twice. I thought this was due to leaving the default c:\ as a directory. I removed this directory, nuked my database and reran the scan. I still see every track listed twice.

What directories do you have listed for your scan? What is left after removing the c:\?

Um, actually I had a bigger message, but when I looked at it it didn't make sense.....music is keyed by it's actual file name so it shouldn't find the same file twice.

If you want you could try turning on insane logging and nuke the library and re-scan - and maybe if you do that, send your db to me as well (email listed in the profile).

Couple of things, can see that there's crap in your recycle bin. But that's not the cause.

I think you must have run that first scan with the c:\ path and then it's been run again with C:\Music.

If this is after a nuke library has been run then there's something funny here, but in your collection paths you do still have c:\ C:\Music and C:\StreamRipper

I'll look at a fix for the case sensitivity since that shouldn't cause a problem....but to get around the issue, remove the C:\, nuke the library then scan again. If still dupicated, delete the musiclibrary2.db3 file and re-set up. And I'll put out a fix for the nuke library.

I think I have a better handle on what is happening. When I use the MVP, the song list looks as it probably should. Whenever I run PVRX2, I am see my original bad scan that loaded each file twice. From that I concluded I must have multiple copies of the database. When I do a file search, I think I find the bad copy of the database in:

c:\Users\<myname>\AppData\Local\Virtual\Store\Program Files\Denz

there is also a link to it in:

c:\Users\<myname>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows

I suspect this is some Vista "magic" going on here. Any suggestions on how I can correct this?

I also tried turning on the screen saver. This caused my MVP to load the MVPMC menu screen. Does the MVP or MVPMC not like the screen saver?

sorry, I'm not a vista user and so haven't seen what it can do with user files.

For screen saver, you're talking about the regular gbpvr one, or ML2Panel?

I doubt ml2panel would be very good for pvrx2..

I think I solved my library issues. I just put the database in its own directory (c:\MusicLibrary2). I think Vista has some rules regarding files being updated under Program Files.

Thanks for your help.
