A friend is looking at just a card at the moment, and can see a few versions of the PVR150.

While I know that the actual card has no difference the remote control bit has given me some concerns.

I recognise the PVR150 Retail with Hauppauge remote. And have had one of these myself.

But the PVR150MCE with Microsoft remote, I figure the remote will work with Windows MCE, but will the remote work with WinTV as well??

I have 2 PVR150MCE's and the Microsoft Remote. I used HIP to get it working with GBPVR. For WinTv, I'd imagine that you could use HIP to control it. You'd have to map the remote buttons to the 'profile' (not sure what the right terminology is) for wintv.exe.

why would you even need to use the wintv program
you can use the mce remote to control anything on your pc with hip or event ghost i had it controlling gbpvr then power dvd and winamp(external tasks) with the old version of gbpvr but since now i have to use FSE its not so easy to control these external program from within pvrx2.exe(only on my system others may not have this problem)
so the answer is yes you could use it to control mce pvr150 or any card that will run in windows

I guess I wanted to figure out if he needed external software, which it sounds like he does. Hes not ready to do "the pvr thing" yet so was probably going to use wintv or something like that to just watch the odd show.

Hehe, that IS funny, though. It's like posting a MAC question on a Microsoft forum...

Yeah I know, but I've got to ease this guy into gbpvr... Big Grin Before I make him take over his whole house with a one stop pvr shop
