So it can tune the analog channels (at least for the next year) as well? Also is there any substantial difference between 1600 and 1650?

What I am gathering is that the new card should suit my needs, so long as I don't mind processing the file a little bit before trying to use the MVP to display it.

Hehehe, true dat. I just took a major WAF hit today when she couldn't figure out which button on the s-video switch to push to select the DVD player. I suggested that she buy me a label maker and I would correct the problem. Methinks I'm sleeping on the couch tonight

I don't know if it'll help, but you may want to check out Zehd's zprocess V1 utility - it has a queuing system that you can run in batch. I don't think he has those features in v2.

let me rephrase the question...can it tune analog OTA (antenna) channels?

Well, the MVP can play HD files, it just can't play them in HD resolution. I have an MVP hooked to a big analog rear-projection CRT and can watch HD files on it. Both ATSC mpeg2 recordings straight from GBPVR and x264 HD.

Being Christmas, I haven't had time to fully mess with it, but while at first it seemed to have a buffer size issue and stuttered sometimes, I changed the size someone recommended in a thread on here and it was fine after that the short amount of time I've used it. No guarantees on that, though, since I haven't tested it with a wide range of files. I usually don't watch TV in that room so haven't messed with it much.

Now that I think about it, ATSC mpeg2 recordings I think were always fine. It's just x264 HD that's usually in .mkv containers that it had a stutter problem with.

Anyway, with the kickass auto-conversion plugin for GBPVR, you should be able to auto-convert files to pretty much whatever you want and not even need to do a manual conversion with (put your favorite encoding software here). For awhile I had GBPVR auto-converting ATSC into SD avis overnight, and that worked fine, and an MVP will certainly play SD avi files. I don't know if people are overthinking this or what since that's all you should need to do and GBPVR + one plugin can already do it.
I bet Michael Bay uses GBPVR because it's awesome:

Yes.
