Everything works great so far on my desktop running PVRX2. My MVP will play videos and live TV, but there is no sound!

Here is my setup:

Hauppauge HVR-1600
Intel Q6600, 2GB RAM, etc.
NVIDIA GeForce 8500 GT

I have tried several settings for the audio decoder and audio renderer. Right now it is set to default.

Any suggestions for what I can try to get this going?

Thanks!

If you are not hearing digital broadcast records you are likely having problem with AC3 audio. If you are using a mux you likely will need to use mvpmc to hear AC3 out of sync.
If you are recoding in Transport stream format, you are going to need to add the parameter to transcode audio instead of copying it into config.xml.

I am using mvpmc.bin as the dongle. The live TV I can see through the MVP is not from a digital broadcast... it is coming from the standard analog OTA. Is there any encoding necessary for this to work through MVP?

There are no sounds at all coming from any source I try on the MVP. The internet radio stations don't produce sounds, and the various .mpg (ts) and dvr-ms files have no sound as well.

As far as I know, I am not using a mux.

Possibly silly, but have you tried a different set of A/V cables... and do you get sound when you feed the TV from another source (STB, Antenna, etc).

If it's not the cables or the settings on your pre-amp, I'd get GBPVR out of the equation and use the mvpmc filesystem option to navigate to usr/playlist and open default.m3u and try and open a radio station like Groove Salad, I just checked and it is definitely working. Note mpeg-ts and dvr-ms are not good source files for testing the mvp from gbpvr.

Well, it was a cable issue! Strange, you never expect your S-Video cable's sound function to stop working! I carries the picture fine, but not any sound. So now I have S-Video for the video, and composite for audio... but it works! Thanks!

An svideo cable only carries video. You still need to have th red/white audio cables plugged in.
