here's a way to have the spectrum analyzer work for all audio coming out of your machine..
Requires Winamp, LCD Smartie, lcd smartie winamp plugin..
http://lcdsmartie.sourceforge.net/winampplugin.html [pics are here]
Works with all audio, even netradio! videos, live tv, everything..
[ok, so no SPDIF
but you can render to both and it'll show]
Install winamp, make sure to install 'Line-in' plugin with it..
open it, in preferences, check 'autostart visualization on play', select smartie plugin on visualization tab, and close.
Install smartie and make sure working with your display.
copy the plugin .dll's to respective programs :[one in smartie plugins, one in winamp]
startup winamp with "start /min winamp.exe linein://"
open your sound card's mixer, goto 'recording' inputs from menu..
select "stereo mix", close mixer... [it may have different name, look in smartie winamp plugin docs,eg: wave mix]
look at smartie-winamp plugin's sample .ini for suggested lines for smartie..
pick one and set in smartie screens..
mine is: $dll(winamp,1,1x5,u#1)
[creates a 1 line x 5 char spectrum graph]
of course i have more stuff on that line tho...[free hd space/cpu, gbpvr info, etc]
be sure to set the $dll refresh speed to around 50 or lower for fast response.. [misc tab]
