I just tried SkipTool for the first time this weekend... very cool. I've had a few issues however.

First, it does bad things to the MVP when trying to exit it. It's nice to be able to use it from the MVP... I was able to edit my comskip commercials and what-not, but as soon as I exited - bang! MVP rebooted. It starts up again so it wasn't the end of the world, but I thought it strange that just entering and exiting the plugin would make the MVP restart.

Second, the VLC option in the TranscodeQ menu really threw me off. I thought it was an option to use VLC to do the transcoding. Of course when I chose it, it simply started VLC playing the movie... it didn't transcode at all. I guess it's in there only as an example of another executable, like on the wiki?

Third, whether it was firing up VLC or stattik's transcode script, both are launched in the foreground. Maybe this isn't avoidable, but it would nice to have the transcode fired off in the background instead. Thankfully I keep a remote button mapped to do task switching so it's not too tough to give pvrx2 the focus again, but I imagine some people sitting on the couch then have to get up and find the keyboard. Smile

Anyway, thanks again for the nice plugin.

The VLC example as you suspected is just to show an example of how you can use the tool to run executables. Occasionally on the forum someone will ask how you can play a file with VLC, so I added that in.
I did address the task starting in the foreground in another post, but haven't put an updated dll on the wiki yet. I haven't heard whether the new dll had any issues.
The post was
http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...t=skiptool

I'll see what I can figure out on the MVP. My system is down right now so I don't have an MVP to test it on, so it will be a bit.

Thanks pastro!

I noticed that other thread after I posted, but it was late and so I didn't get a chance to try out the dll. I'll give it a go tonight though and let you know how I do.

Sorry Pastro, my bad..I can't remember whether or not it worked. I'll try it out this week. I'm guessing it did, because I haven't posted back! :p

I just tried the patch dll and it seems to have introduced a new problem, or at least one I haven't experienced before. When I queue a file for processing, nothing appears to happen at all, background, foreground or otherwise.

After several attempts what I did find was numerous queueit.exe and cmd processes listed in the taskmgr, but no apparent activity. The CPU usage is unfazed and they don't appear to be doing anything, so I just killed them.

On a positive note, whatever it's doing, it's doing it in the background. Smile

If you have any thoughts or if there's a log file somewhere that might help, let me know.

I did find this in the pvrx2.exe.log that looks kind of suspicious...

Can you try just running the VLC option and see if that pops up a VLC window?

Ok that's good, it still runs applications ok. I'll check to see why stattik's scripts don't seem to be running.

I just ran a cut and copy using the queue and that worked fine. It ran in the background and processed the file. Give me the parameters that you are using and I'll try those.
