Sub,

I have posted this quetion in the past...I have been waiting to see more cable card tuners hit the market; and ATI (and some other company which i do not recall) has released a monstrous external cable card tuner which appears to only be compatable with vista, that there are many restrictions regarding recording HD, among other issues.

I contacted Haupppauge not so long ago and inquired/suggested that they look into a cable card tuner. I got a response from a tech at hauppauge and he said that cable card tuners are something that they are researching but he could not give out any details.

I ultimately want to have a pvr that will capture HD but will not require an external capture device, or a STB. Basically i want an hd pvr all in one case with no externals!

Just wanted to know if you have heard or know of anything in the works!

Thanks!

I'm not sub and I can't say much but I am testing and have been testing cable card tuners for MS and you can only get them from OEM's. It is Vista only and internal tuners are in the marketplace. Again, I can't say much more.

Sorry, I dont know of any cable card products in development. The few companies I've talked to about it indicated the compliance and licensing costs were too high for them to look at. Even if they did, they'd only be Vista Media Center only products.
