Hi all

I am new to GBPVR but let me say that this is a great app.

I have one question for sub.
Here in NA we have many DVB-S "STB's" that get "lots of stuff". There are some with a feature called Themes. This is basically a feature that allows you to flip through all the program genres. Movies, sports etc. This is all gleaned from the epg.

Now when GBPVR populates the DB from the epg we see stuff like:
Movie. Hellboy
or
Hellboy movie.
in the info.

It would be nice to have the parser search the string for these strings (Movie, Specials/Series, Sports, Adult, Education and the like) and set the genre accordingly and maybe have a Themes function to choose so you could scroll through the genres.

I know this may not be a priority but it would be a nice to have.

Thanks again

The Genres are named and gathered from all the categories obtained from the listings... for example, if a listing has a category as 'Movie', it will have a genre associated. You can set the colours for the genres within the 'config' program. (Plugin | TV Guide | settings)

Sometimes though two genres can conflict. For example, you set movies to show up as green and Adult content to show up as red, then when you have an Adult Content Movie, GB-PVR has to decided which colour to display.. That's something I haven't been able to solve, in the above example, all of the adult movies seem to show as 'adult'... That's either luck or random or design, but it's OK with me, because it's consistent.

UltraXMLTV Enhancer works with Genre Colours with a few presets and allows customization. It's desgined to let you group several categories, for example: skiing, fitness, wrestling, 'sporting events', etc, can all be grouped under 'sports' and all have the same associated colour...

The Enhnacer has a gui to help you select other categories not already associated and add them. Say, a new type of sport shows up, like 'thumb wrestling', you can add that to the sports genre...

I guess I should have been more specific. I am using the DVB EPG and from what I see, it does not do the genres. I only have drama's

It probably means your broadcaster is using some proprietary scheme for transmitting the genre info. The NA DVB platforms are known to be non-standard on quite a few things, including the EPG, which carries this genre info.

I would try and use another xmltv listing source. Lots more information available
