Missing Codec?

I have a video that plays fine on other computers. When I try to view it on my GBPVR box I get audio only. I tried to open it w/ WMP to grab the missing codec, but WMP can't find or download the appropriate file.

Is there an easy way to tell what codec the video is requesting (and I am missing)?

A utility like gspot will usually tell you what decoder is required.

There is a section on utilities for repairing broken filters. I discovered I had several broken codecs on my HVR -- e.g., an AX without a corresponding DLL.

There's also a Microsoft utility you can install to tell you which video codecs you have installed and to choose which one is teh default.
