I've finally gotten my HVR-1600 setup in GBPVR on the ATSC tuner. The analog side has been working for a while but I hadn't taken the time to setup the ATSC tuner until now (long story).

This weekend, I was able to setup the ATSC side in Config. That was fairly straightforward.

Then going into PVRX2, I've found a real problem with the audio on the ATSC channel. I can tune to an ATSC channel and watch the video portion perfectly. Looks great! But the audio portion in GBPVR is nothing more than a bunch of loud squeals and clicks. (I don't know how else to describe it.) I have to mute the sound quickly, because I am afraid I will blow a speaker.

Am I missing something in GBPVR config that I should be aware of? This has got me confused and frustrated. Any ideas on where to start looking?

FWIW - The HVR-1600 audio is working fine when I use WinTV7 and Windows 7 MCE to watch the same ATSC stations, so I am assume it must be something in GBPVR that I don't know about yet.

Thanks for any help!

The multiplexer you use can also cause this problem.

I use AC3Filter, so if that's not what you're running try that.... http://ac3filter.net

note also that while the Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder shows up in GB-PVR config, it's known not to work.

Thanks for the replies!

The only audio codecs and muxs on the system are the ones included by default (Win 7, Hauppauge drivers, and GBPVR base install).

I have not installed AC3filter yet, so I will do that and see if it addresses the problem.

I have the same card as you, and for the video decoder I use MVP decoder filter, default for audio decoder, AC3filter for the AC3 audio decoder, system default for the audio rendered, VMR9 Custom, and TS Mux in the BDA multiplexer. With much playing with all available to me, this is the combo that works the best. You will not have much luck with default decoders or filters, so dont waste your time. Search the wiki how to install the MVP decoder filter from the run command. If you don't do that, it wont install.

I downloaded and installed the ac3filter a little bit ago.

ATSC audio is now playing just fine in GBPVR live mode. Thanks! Smile

Snooze, thank you for the recommendations on the HVR-1600 settings.

I will study the settings and see what I have setup here.

BTW - I have the Model 1199 version and the board rev. that supports QAM, but have not take the time to setup QAM in GBPVR yet. There's not many clear QAM stations on my cable system here and I can get good signal via OTA.

Thanks again to everyone for the responses!
