This new card has been nothing but trouble. First it was endless VPU Recover errors (which I think are fixed by more power) and now its an infinite loop of death error.

In a computer with an AMD Athlon XP 3000+ (2.09 GHz, 1GB RAM,) I recently installed an Asus AH 3450-512MB-AGP (ATI Radeon HD 3450) card for its HDMI out. When I start the computer, everything appears fine. The screen appears on the TV beautifully, I can run (almost) any program, play videos through WMP 11, run Internet Explorer, etc., but when I start GB-PVR (1.4.7,) the fun begins. The menu shows up but as soon as I try to access Live TV or TV Guide, the CPU use goes to 100%, the screen flickers a few times, then I get a green screen telling me the ati2dvag driver was caught in an infinite loop and the computer is frozen. The only option is to press the power button to turn off the computer and again to turn it on.

I have updated drivers, tried various releases of ATI CCC, installed the AGP hotfix, and more. Anyone else seen this problem or have suggestions?

Thanks.

you have a driver problem, make sure to use the ati remover util in add/remove programs [or programs in vista] and reboot! before loading any new driver version..
i have one of these cards and it is a bit more finicky than the pcie ones..but works none the less...[tho mine does't have the hdmi outs]
did you try the included cd drivers? probably best bet on that card..
trying too many drivers can muddy the waters,so need to make sure it's clean between installs..

you can actually skip loading those modules...
use msconfig to uncheck all the ati stuff except for atismart service...
[look in both startup and services]

You may also want to install the latest AGP and chipset drivers, assuming you're running Windows XP... for Vista or 7, whatever Windows installed is all you're going to get.
I'd generally go with the ones from the chipset vendor (VIA, NVidia, SiS:eek:, etc.) over the mainboard vendor ones, as they're not likely to have been updated any time recently.
Perhaps also try setting your AGP slot to 4X mode in the BIOS. Some combinations of mainboard/chipset/driver/card are flaky in 8X mode.
