If that the VF branded one? I was on the understanding there was a gps chip inside the VF one, a friend of mine has one and there's a "hack" you can do to enable it.

i think it is, the trade me auction said it can take a sim card from vodafone. wont know until i actually pick it up. yeah i saw the hacks to turn gps on in it. and can easily turn it into a hackintosh (might have trouble with it only being 8GB though)

dont want to watch movies on it, and if i ever did (say on a plane) i would store them on usb stick or something.
i can always upgrade the HDD if i need to in the future (well i hope i can...)
got it now, its pretty sleek, keyboard will take a while to get use to, can use a sim card for 3g, which is the main reason i wanted it. came with some crap s/w i had to uninstall and ill turning it into a hackintosh Smile

Thats a good price considering they retail for $700 or so, and haven't actually been out that long. The main reason I didn't like those ones was they came in only one colour - white...

i do like the white, but that maybe the apple fanboy inside me (but i do bitch about apple more than praise them).

so far the machine seems pretty good, running everything im doing at a good speed (just browsing net/emails really though), have to leave it charging for a few more hours before i can remove from power source (i hate it when u get a new toy and you have to let it charge Sad). ill take it out on the road with me tomorrow and give it a good running over.

taking me a while to get use to xp again though.... going to upgrade to win 7 + 2GB ram. and maybe a 32GB SSD hdd, they arent that expensive...

The cheaper versions tend to be very slow. For OS installations SLC type SSD's are recommended, which are more expensive than the MLC type.
