I'm not sure, but the signal from you PCH should by default have the PLIIx Movie encoding. I'm not sure if that is on the digital outs or the analog out either.

Probably analog outs. That's where it's most common since they usually only have two channels. It may do it on the digital outs as well though. I'll play around tomorrow with it.

Results:

Receiver get 5.1 PCM from NMT via HDMI.

I was meaning over HDMI or SPDIF but not pass through. On Wikipedia I saw this quote
"When outputting to separate equipment over a 2-channel connection, a Dolby Digital decoder can optionally encode the output using Dolby Surround to preserve surround information"

If you are running in raw mode a good test might be a file with standard mpeg audio

By tomorrow, I didn't know you meant Central Time! Or posts crossed but I think you found the same test with mpeg audio. The 5.1 must be PLIIx so I will turn on Music mode when playing audio files. Thanks for your help.

The true test of PLxII would be with the stereo analog connections. I'll set it up tomorrow and test it. I've got to hit the sack though. Long day tomorrow and it starts early.

I'm not going to get to this tonight like I planned. I'm on hour 16 working and I have about 2 more to go, then get a few hours sleep and start again. It may be day after tomorrow before I get to it. I'm fairly certain the PLxII is working though as you mentioned above.

And I didn't mean Central Time, I just had a little down time last night. Big Grin
