Hi All,
I an new here and I want to say thank you to those who created this and support this project, and plugins.

This is not my first try at building a media center, I have tried others and I am a Linux guy so I started with LinuxMCE. The hard ware I have did not work. I tried some other Linux MCEs but no go. I then went back to windows tried a few but this is the best one, and it works!!!

My MCE I have just built out a pile of junk.
IBM Think center desktop 1.8gb hyper thread 1.5gb ram 500gb HD.
Windows XP pro networked via wire.
ATI 9600 pro 128mb video.
Win PVR 150 TV card, with remote.
Sound Blaster Live Value card.
Wireless key board with roller mouse built in.

Every thing is working very well, but I have 2 issues (small ones).
I have a slight buzzing sound from the audio out. I think I can fix this with a USB sound card. Next my TV listing is 3 hours off. I built the system set the time zone, but after I installed SP3 it went back to PST and I did not see that till after I set up the hole thing.

I read that some one did this and they removed all the xmltv data, and removed the capture card. Re-added this back and that fixed the issue. I did this but no go. I even tried the offset under settings for the xmltv plugin, but that did not work.

I am wondering if I uninstall the GB PVR software and delete the dir form the PC reinstall would this fix the issue?

I would also like to change the skin background photo, how can I do this?

Once more thanks for this great software.

If you're sure you've not got the correct timezone, you should be able to go into your capture sources, hit 'empty epg' to get rid of the existing data, then do a 'update epg' to pull in the correct times.

You can change the background image by replacing 'C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\skin2\blue\Menu\background.jpg'

Thanks for the help!!
I was able to get the EPG updating correctly, and change the background. I am just so happy I was able to set this up and get it working all for free.

What service dose people use in the USA for there EPG xmltv data?

I am using zap2it, and it works some what. There are a few channels missing but it has all I need.

Most of us use Schedules Direct, there is a small yearly fee but it works seamlessly with GBPvr.

Welcome Noel!

It's nice to read a gbvpr newbie success story like this...

I think you struck gold with a good combo of older hardware. CPU is fast enough for non-high-def content, plently of ram and HD space (for now....), a half-decent graphics and sound card and the best supported analogue tuner around.

I had the exact same g/card for 2 years and it was very good on my CRT TV. I had a Zalman passive heatsink so it was completely silent (the stock fan can be very whiney).

If the buzzing is a constant brrrrrrrrrrrr, it could be a bad cable connection. Make sure the connector is pushed in completely (sorry if this is stating the obvious) and not touching/shorting out on the back on the computers PCI slot.

If the sounds fluctuates, it could be interference from a device/fan inside the pc. You might want to try moving the sound card to another slot.

have fun... :-)

Thanks. I have been using the PVR 150 well since they cam out. Before that I had an ATI all in wonder card. This summer I picked up a second PVR 150 card for $15 USD with shipping $25 total. Thanks the thumbs up on the system. What some one calls junk I call FREEEEEE!!!! As for the buzzing I am thinking it is do to pore shielding ether on the G card fan or the CPU fan. Any rate I have done all of your suggestions and got it down to a very low buzz. The good thing is I have a buzz in my ears any way from years of heavy metal and working in a factory. So for now I am very happy, but will look into a USB sound card.

Thanks

Noel
