It reminds me of a joke really where the government in Denmark was looking for treasures underneath a year 1805 castle and found a telephone cable figuring they must have been the first having telephone lines. Sweden then started digging underneath all their castles from that era and they eventually found a network cable figuring they must have had Internet back then. Then came the Dutch folks with the news they found no telephone, no network nor any other cable underneath their castles and stated "We must have had wireless first"

Odd - trying to find out the originators of HDMI (thinking it was DRM driven?) I see wikipedia says HDMI is obsolete already and HDbaseT

HDMI is becoming obsolete with the introduction of a new digital standard called HDBaseT which uses standard Cat5e/6 LAN cable and an RJ-45 connector. The HDBaseT Alliance has just finalised version 1.0 of the spec, and says it will be available for licensing within the second half of 2010.[2]

Transmission of music data at rates faster than the speed of light seemed convenient, until I realized I was hearing the music before I actually wanted to play it. Apparently Denon forgot how accustomed most of us are to unidirectional time and the general laws of physics. I tried to get used to this effect but hearing songs play before I even realized I was in the mood for them just really screwed up my preconceptions of choice and free will. I'm still having a major existential hangover.

Would not purchase again.

wow, and here I thought 'Monster' cables were silly things only the foolish would buy, but those AudioQuest cables really blow my mind... are there really enough people willing to spend $7,200.00 on a power cable to keep a company like this in business? I guess it only takes a few suckers...

yes, I said power cable, exactly the same sort of 3-prong computer power cable we all use to plug our computers into the wall sockets. AudioQuest's top of the line power cord costs $7,200.00 for the 10 foot length. You can order any custom longer length you want too, just calculate $600 per foot plus $1200 for the plugs. IT'S A F---ING POWER CORD!

The one that really takes the cake though is if you want a 20 meter pair of their best RCA cables: $52,800.00. Yes. FIFTY TWO THOUSAND, EIGHT HUNDRED DOLLARS. An entire year's middle-class salary for one pair of audio cables.

Even for the most serious, professional, money-making purpose there simply can't be a rational justification for that level of expense.

i bought a tv the other day at Walmart, dencent deal on the tv, but then needed a HDMI cable for my mom and they cheapest one they had was $28!!![6ft] at Walmart!
so i balked at that and got a hdmi 1.4 [w/ethernet support] that is fatter than a coax cable and excellent ends 15ft for $9 at local dist.

it's not the price, it's the quality to look for[connectors,cable grade]...good quality can come at almost any price..
you'd be surprised how long you can run a hdmi cable without any extra help....[100ft+]


funniest thing about all this is, that someone actually bought these things at one time or another! or they wouldn't be selling them..
that's one way to mark a sucker for sure...and sell him other junk...lol

imagine how much the guy who paid $70,000 on his cables spent on his receiver or tv?!!!
