Can't get client to play vid or audio

I tried every combination of renderers and decoders (focusing on MPEG2) to play a recorded show from the host computer.

Vido renderer options: EVR, VMR7, VMR7 custom, VMR FSE, Overlay

MPEG2 Video decoders: FFdshow, microsoft mpeg2 video decoder, CBVA DMO wrapper filt, cyberlink video/sp decoder (HP), and P2G decoder

Right now, just trying to get video working. Then I'll work on audio.

Think with GB, I used the ffdshow, but that's just not working now.

I did get the client working on another PC (as a test case) and was successful there.

I assume the video renderer isn't that important, the key is finding the proper mpeg2 video decoder? Is it safe to assume that the shows are recorded in MPEG2 format?

Using Hauppage 1950 if that makes any difference.

What do you have the server name set to? It looks like you've typed something invalid in that field.

Server name: \\MAINTV-PC
database share: \\MAINTV-PC\Public\NPVR


I can see the recorded shows on the menu, but can't play them.

The server name shouldnt have a UNC path. ie, it should just be a server name like 'MAINTV-PVR'

I noticed that my other client didn't have the "\\", but when I removed it on the computer in question, I couldn't even get the recordings list.

Ok, I had accidentally deselected client mode when I made that change.

Re-selected client mode, removed the "\\" and now it works.

The database share name should be a UNC path (ie '\\server\share'), and this is all that is required to see the database and list of recordings. Removing the slashes from the server name (not database share name) wouldnt have affected this. The server name is only used when you go to watch something.

Got it all worked out, except that I can't move to a part of the show with the mouse (skip ahead or go back).

I can on my other client computer, so this is puzzling me.
