Down Scaled HD

My main TV resolution is 1368 X 768 so it won’t be able to display a 1080p HD signal. The NPVR computer connected to this display runs at the native resolution so an SD signal must be being “up scaled” by NPVR and the video card to 720p or to 1080p on my other smaller TV. It would seem to me that if I had an HD card in my computer, the same software and hardware should also be able to “down scale” the 1080p HD signal to display on this 720p display. Has anyone tried this? I know it wont be as good as 1080p but if it works the picture should be better than SD.

Yep, you can playback any resolution video and the PC will always up or downscale it to fit whatever its output resolution is set to. It's not a problem.

Thanks, it did seem logical but I thought I would check. I am thinking of getting a DVB-S card as a second tuner and that would also give me a few HD channels as well.

If you're buying a new DVB-S card, think about getting an S2 instead as C4HD requires one. So far it's the only HD channel that does, but others could follow and this would future proof you.
