For others: I'm pretty sure it's actually NextPVR.exe that needs firewall access. (I know that people have been bitten by that one before...) And also, NRecord.exe.

You are correct, it is NextPVR.exe (I am so used to the shorthand version and am a little crosseyed at the moment...), but oddly on this PC, I did not have to give permission to NRecord.exe and it does not show up on the allowed list in the firewall. It is a 64 bit system if that has anything to do with it. But on my 32 bit system I had to give permission to NRecord.exe.

It may depend upon how windows is configuring the network types and your default firewall access. The DCR-2650 appears to NPVR as a network device, but it is connected via a different (internal) network adapter interface. I'm pretty sure that if you had an HDHR Prime or a classic HDHR connecting via the "real" network interface, you would need a firewall rule for NRecord.exe.

I am setting up my new DCR-2650 and it does not show up in nPVR. The HDHomerun software is not on the install disc I received. Where do I find it? Google here I come.
What, me worry?

You can download it from http://www.silicondust.com/support/hdhomerun/downloads/.

It wont detect your DCR-2650 if you try to run the tools it installs, but it'll be enough for NPVR to do it's thing.

Here is the HDHomerun software. It is the new version that has been blinded to the DCR-2650, but sub noted that it should still have the program he needs in it. If not, post back and I will see what I can do...

Wow you guys are fast. I just found, downloaded and installed the 20110830 version, and nPVR does now find the 2650. I'll let you know how I make out from here.

Thanks.
