Hi

I've had a few BSOD's recently and on the last one, i managed to write down the driver (USBEHCI.SYS). Having done some research, it looks like it is a Microsoft bug with XP SP3 with certain hardware. Has anybody else come across this? I'm just trying to work out the simplest way to resolve it. It appears there is a Microsoft Hotfix (WindowsXP-KB969238-x86-ENU) which has to be requested from microsoft and i assume means paying for support. There are also some 3rd party sites that offer it but i'm not sure how trust-worthy they are.

I was wondering if it might be possible to downgrade just this driver to an older version?

Anyway, if anybody has experienced it and fixed it, it would be good to know how.

Thanks.

I haven't come across it, but there again, I stopped at SP2 I think.
I'm suspicious of my VIA hardware on my server as it has had odd nova-t-500 problems over time whereas the potential new mahcine which has been running in parallel for some time has been (touch wood) faultless with its Intel hardware.

mine is USBEHCI.SYS 5.1.2600.2180 (xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158) dated 2004

Well i've applied the Microsoft Hotfix. Now i need to see what happens. It'll take a couple of weeks to prove it....

Well, having had it on for a couple of days, i would probably say that it is no better, just different. It nolonger blue screens but it now always freezes if i try to use both tuners. Oh well, it was worth a go.

So I now need to look at alternatives. My only worry is that other tuners might end up giving me the same issues.... I'm thinking about the new PCIe quad tuner BlackGold....

Good news, it is now working. The problem was that after applying the Microsoft hotfix, i had to re-apply BDA fix as well.

I ended up downgrading the drivers to XP SP2 versions but it looks like either downgrading or applying the Microsoft hotfix will work. The hotfix is probably the cleaner route to take.

I have now switched off any microsoft upgrades to avoid it braking again!
