Why would you need to use this to create an XMLTV file when NextPVR has DVB/ATSC EPG features built in?

DVBGuide is very handy, not least because it can parse and understand the "encrypted" EPG for Freesat. Having the results in an xmltv file also opens up possibilities for pre-processing before giving the data to GBPVR/NPVR.

Yes. You can even see the listings for the HD mux with just an normal DVB-T tuner (and DVBGuide).

I did vaguely experiment with this when writing the original wiki pages up.

It is the pre-processing that seemed to me the biggest strength as per Iain's post. By grabbing sometimes sparse data by the provider it can be enhanced etc etc.....

cheers all

I don't do much processing of the files, but it does help. For usage with GBPVR, I strip out all the channels I'm not interested in, and also rename some of them too (this isn't an issue with NPVR). I also take some of the extra fields that aren't displayed and tag them onto the description field, so I can see stuff like audio format (Mono, Stereo, Dolby Digital), aspect ratio (4:3, 16:9), and also add the genre too. It's often wrong though Rolleyes

If it is GB-PVR related I think we can all give up on that now? :

I would suggest just getting rid of any pages that are not supported yet (that require serious geek input)....

McBainUK you are working too hard on this, I wish I could help you but time is not my friend at the moment....

cheers
