Ok I’m very stumped on this whole thing and I’m hoping that someone out there has a solution for me. I’m trying to get the QAM to work on a HVR-1600 but I run into a snag. After doing a fresh install I can run a scan and find several channels that come in clear. But after a reboot of the system when selecting any of the stations I just get a black screen with no audio. Then if I run a scan on my 2nd HVR-1600 card I get no channels showing up. The only way I can get things back is if I do a Uninstall of the drivers and WinTV. But then again after the next reboot its all gone again.
Anyone else run into this my logs are below?

Here’s a quick rundown on my setup.
2gb of ram
Intel Quad Core 2
Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
2 HVR-1600
NPVR 2.3.6
MSI K8MM3-V with AMD 3000+ Sempron | 1GB RAM | ATI Radeon Visiontek X1300 AGP 8x | PVR-150 & HVR-1600 | Various HD's|

If you've been scanning channels and messing with the devices perhaps your channel mapping is SNAFU'ed. I had this happen to me in the past when I was into the settings of GB-PVR in the past. You could check the channel mapping in the NPVR.db3 database with SQLiteSPY.

Hey HolyDiverUSA, I also am attempting to set up a new nPVR installation and am having virtually the same problem. I can run one HVR-1600 (Model 1199) and watch and record Analog and QAM channels with no issues. As soon as I add a second HVR-1600, all the QAM Digitial signals go away and I can't watch live TV, or record, or even find the QAM channels during a channel Scan anymore. At first I though I had a bad card, but when I swap them in and out of my box, they each work independently of each other, just never together. I hoping you found an answer to your issues. Please let me know if you did.

Quote:Sorry to bother you directly, but I have an issue with installing 2 HVR-1600 (model 1199) in the same box. If you go to the thread listed below, you can see the original posting by user 'HolyDiverUSA' from back in February that pretty much covers my exact same problem. He posted his logs, which correspond exactly to what is shown in mine. The critical error is shown in the ndigitalhost.log file which shows the error "ConnectPins failed: hr = 80040217". Any ideas you have to resolve this issue would be much appreciated (spiritually and financially). I have been a long timer user of GPVR and am finally getting around to building a new box using the most current version of nPVR. If I can get this resolved, you can expect a donation from me again. Really love the new version and am ready to pull my hair out over this one.
Based on that ConnectPins error message, it sounds like maybe the drivers dont support these two devices at the same times. Post your logs though, and I'll have a quick check of them.

If I had the to HVR-1600s in my machine, as a first step to diagnosing it I'd probably try to get them both going in GraphEdit. This would at least confirm or rule out whether it is a driver problem.

I think I have the problem solved. I found another posting from another user who had a similar problem using 2 of the same card (other than a Hauppuage 1600). This person recommended that you use the HWClear utility from Hauppuage (I ran it twice, once to "Remove WinTV INF files" and once to "Remove All WinTV Driver Files"), roboot the computer, and then allow Windows to reinstall the drivers from the WinTV CD drivers folder. From that point, I rescanned both the Analog and QAM channels on both cards (did not allow nPVR to "copy" the channel information for either). Then I set 2 shows from the QAM channel range and 2 shows from the Analog channel range to record for 1/2 hour each). I repeated the process of setting 4 simultaneous shows to record 3 sepate times this evening, each time after a reboot, to make sure the old problem did not come back between reboots--it did NOT come back. After I was convinced that the scanned digital QAM channels and scanned analog channels worked correctly, I did a channel merge (my analog channels were all listed twice), and am currently recording 4 simultaneous shows again. My next step is to make a backup copy of the npvr.db3, or maybe the entire NPVR folder, and do another reboot, and repeat the whole 4-program recording cycle again).

I believe part of my original problem stemmed from the fact that I started with 1 HVR-1600 installed, installed the drivers with just that one card present, performed the channel scans with just that one card present, and then attempted to add the second HVR-1600 afte the drivers had already been installed and then let nPVR "copy" all of my channel information.

HolyDiverUSA, I hope this sheds some light on your problem as well. Good Luck, and I'll report back anything else I find during my testing during the rest of the weekend.

Did you happen to do the full install of WinTV 7 or the softPVR? Because tonight I had some time to play with it and my results were less then great. I included my logs from each phase. I went the full WinTV route. After a reboot I lose the QAM Channels still.

HolyDiverUSA, I see you are running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit OS. I am still running plain old vanilla Windows XP, SP3. So, I don't think my previous postings are going to be of much use to you. Did you use the HCWClear utility per my previous posting? And then let Windows reinstall the drivers from the WinTV CD Drivers folder after a reboot? Have you tried downloading the most current version of the WIN-TV HVR-1600 driver updates from the Hauppauge web site at: http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/software/..._28243.zip, and maybe trying those?
