I maintain the best solution to the DVBFix install/reinstall hack is avoid it all together.

"New" hardware? Sure Win7 won't support all XP hardware but that would be ancient hardware now, and it is stuff that the h/w vendors haven't supported or sold for five years or longer. I do agree if you won't to continue to use it, XP would be a better choice.

The MP hack for the .dll works if you have multiple tuners? Worked for me? But does have probs when scanning?

What is new hardware? Some of us are buying this 'new' but used! I have got some pretty good 2nd hand hardware that works with XP and NextPVR fine. At v low cost....

What is my alternative? Brand new PC with latest Intel chip. Run Win7. PCI-x cards for DVB-C/S/T. Argggh already hit £1000 and counting.... :eek:

This discussion is not helping softfoot though & I suspect his problem is not the PsisDecd.dll problem as he used to be able to scan with 2.3.6, but I may be wrong.

XP worked reasonably well for me until I got a second tuner so NextPVR crashed when making two recordings. Installing the "Fix" cured the problem until I later found that it only did a partial channel scan. I eventually found that uninstalling the "Fix" cured the scan problem so modified the Fix install script to act as an uninstall script. That would have been a workable solution but I had a couple of unused Vista licences so installed that instead on the server and client. This had the added advantage of curing a NextPVR lockup I had suffered since I first started using it.

For me the whole point of xxPVR is that I can reuse some older hardware.

I de-installed 2.4.3 and deleted all NPVR directories I could find and did a re-install of 2.3.6 (without patches) and it fails in the same way - but now creates a "minidump".

Is this dump of use to anyone ??

There is a psisdecd.dll on the system ... dated 14-04-08 06:42:04

Running out of ideas now ...

I checked on my working GBPVR box and it has the same version of psisdecd.dll and can scan OK
I'll try swapping the cards over ... just in case.

**UPDATE 2**
I swaped the two identical NOVA-S2 cards - same problem.
Did a clean install of XP + dependencies + NPVR - same problem.
