Having a 1000 or so recordings could be a factor in how long it's taking the app to load the recording list. How long does it take you to view the recordings screen on the server?

Changing the server name to an IP address solved the problem thanks. It now takes 3 seconds to start. I left the database share using the name.
Thanks for the advice.

Windows just seems to get worse and worse with each release for things like this ;(

I think people are putting more Windows machines on their home networks and this is exacerbating problems with too many Master browsers. Using NETBIOS as DNS was never a good thing.

I have had problems for about a year with machines disappearing from the network and loosing internet connection that only rebooting the router & switch would fix.

I recently discovered that the latest Netgear DG 834 v2 firmware is faulty and has a habit of trying do do full dns look-ups on the dhcp server.
I have assigned fixed ip addresses to all machines, disabled the dhcp server & moved the switch to the horizontal position (seams to have stopped some intermittent connections) - all appears to be much more stable.

I am just wondering if having a LM Host file on each machine on the network might also speed things up?
It's not an overly complicated system - it's more - overly simple operatives  Huh

Using the IP has speeded up my client starting, however it still takes a long time to load the guide. Is there any roadmap to optimised in a future release (perhaps send only the now and next immediately, and let the rest of the guide cross the network in it's own time)?

Thanks

Also, the client still crashes frequently changing channels.

The server software is amazing thought! I think this is why I want the clients to work so good! Smile

Are you using ip address also in the share name?
